Another trip to Whidbey Island in Washington

This time the reason for going to Whidbey Island was twofold. Jocelyne was invited to take part in a sculpture exhibit for the month of April in Oak Harbour, and I was in search of the grey whales which are very active in this area at the moment. Much to my chagrin, I did not spot any whales while there. I may go back at the end of this month, and maybe I will be graced with their presence...

This seal pup was the closest mammal to a whale that I could find. He is still very cute!

We spent 3 nights in an airbnb cabin around Penn Cove. We got very lucky with this accommodation, what I thought was a room in a house turned out to be a cabin. This place is situated on 2 acres, and the owners are avid gardeners, so this was like being in a small paradise. They were wonderful hosts, brought breakfast to our cabin, and even cleaned our room during our stay.

Skulpt pop up gallery

As I mentioned earlier, the reason for Jocelyne going to Whidbey Island was to bring some of her beautiful sculptures to a gallery in Oak Harbour for the month of April. This gallery is temporarily using a vacant space, and will be displaying the works of numerous artists, here is the link to the Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/Skulpt-Pop-up-Art-Gallery-1876666865884730/?hc_ref=PAGES_TIMELINE

We spent one day in Langley in search of whales. It was a fantastically sunny day, and the water was dead calm. There were no boats available for rent, and we had left our kayak at home. We had come to Langley because there is charter boat that goes whale watching, but unfortunately only on the weekends. We were there only during the week. What a drag!

Here are a few photos of that beautiful day.
